Safari Supper for Sunderland Restaurant Week [ad]

I was invited to the #EatDrinkSunderland Safari Supper to get a taste of what is on offer for Sunderland Restaurant Week in return for me to share my experience on my blog and social media. All views in this post are my own.
It's already half way through March and I've just been so terrible at keeping my blog up to date! I decided to extend my hiatus after getting caught up in a car accident last month (thankfully aside from some whiplash I'm fine!) as I needed to make sure I didn't stress myself out any further. I feel like I'm back on track now though and I'm really excited to be posting again as I've got loads on this year! This post will actually be quite a long one, and my photos have actually ended up being terrible so please bear with me! Hopefully you get the gist of it, but I'm a bit rusty and I was a bag of nerves most of the night!
I was so lucky to be given the chance to attend the #EatDrinkSunderland Safari Supper to get a taste of just som…

Afternoon Tea Adventures | The Great British Cupcakery

My third installment of Afternoon Tea Adventures is a special one because I went for my birthday! I decided to go with The Great British Cupcakery because I'd been before and knew it was a good one. I'd been looking forward to this for weeks, and was excited to introduce this place to my friends.

The cakes at The Great British Cupcakery are impressive. They have crispy cakes so big I'm sure you could build a house with them. They have such a big range of cakes and their celebration ones they do for birthdays and weddings are just so beautiful. I love the decoration of the whole place too, it's nice to have a nice bit of cake in lovely surroundings. It made the whole experience feel even better to be fair.

Look at me being all fancy taking photos like this - completely out of my comfort zone really but trying to push myself a bit more! I actually loved the teapots and the cups and saucers, they were all so lovely and I liked that each one of us had different ones. My friend also asked for Hot Chocolate as she doesn't like tea or coffee, we were all expecting her to just get a glass of it but they brought out a pot full!

What we're all here for - the Afternoon Tea! I got in touch before booking to ask about their gluten free choices as my friend Hanna can't have gluten. I really would have felt terrible if me and Rozemah had been sat eating scones and cakes and Hanna had to have something completely different but I was chuffed when they said they offer Gluten Free scones and cakes too so they ended up being almost exactly the same! The only difference between ours and Hanna's was that we had a cheese scone and Hanna had a chocolate chip one. They also allowed us to make a few substitutions with the sandwiches too, it's great how accommodating they are. It's a running joke with my friends how obsessed I am with Gluten Free considering I can eat gluten, but I just like to know that my friend can have a good meal and not have to miss out! Hanna has a Gluten Free instagram account - @glutenfreehan - where she posts about her fave gluten free foods.

I really do think this is one of my favourite afternoon teas - the place is lovely, they're so accomodating for any changes you might need to make, and the food is just unreal. That scone though! It's absolutely huge but it's amazing too, the cream was lush and just, yeah I'm still thinking about it!

All in all, this is an afternoon tea that you need to try. Everything is delicious, I've been twice and each time I've been so impressed and had absolutely nothing bad to say about this place. If you're a fan of afternoon tea, get this place on your list. Despite being absolutely stuffed from the afternoon tea (we all ended up taking stuff home!) I was still eyeing up all the cakes and thinking about their waffles too, fair to say this place is constantly on my list for somewhere to visit, but the afternoon tea is really something else!

Let me know if you've been before! And if you have any suggestions for my next afternoon tea adventures I'd love to hear them!
