Preparing for a Hen Do with Fibromyalgia

I'm not going to lie, I've got an insanely busy few months coming up. As someone who is used to spending a lot of time alone, this is genuinely so different to my normal life, but I'm so happy about it! I did a quick post earlier this year going over some of the things I've got going on this year, so I thought I'd share some posts about how I'm preparing for these with regards to my fibro.
First up I've got two hen do weekends for two amazing bride to be's this year. I am so excited and crazily happy that I've been asked to attend. I've got one in Benidorm and one in Leeds, and they're both going to be jam packed with activities to make it an unreal time. But with this comes a lot of preparation on my end, to make sure I know I can have a fantastic weekend without a dreaded fibro flare. Whilst I'm fully expecting to need a bit of recovery after, I'd like to try and make it through both weekends without a flare up.
1. Start Preparing …

Afternoon Tea Adventures | South Causey Inn

My Afternoon Tea Adventures so far has been full of some absolutely delightful Afternoon Teas that I would definitely recommend, but I think I might just have found my all time favourite (at least, so far, I still have plenty more on my list). The South Causey Inn has been high on my list for afternoon tea for quite a while now, and me and my sister hadn't been in a while so we thought this would be the perfect one. I've been to the South Causey a few times for food, and it's always been amazing so I knew it would be impressive.

Just look at that man, amazing. You should have seen my face when this came out.

They have afternoon tea in sets, so when you book they give you the option of either 12pm or 4pm, meaning all the food is ready in time so there's no waiting around. You can tell everything is fresh which is really important to me, you don't want hard bread and dry cakes! I loved the table we were sat at, I've never seen anything like it before, the decor in their restaurant is fab. I loved that we each got our own jars of jam and clotted cream - both me and my sister are huge fans so we would have been fighting over the jam and cream if not!

The amount of food you got was just crazy. You ended up with 8 sandwiches (!!!) - tuna and sweetcorn, cheese savoury, egg mayo and cheese and cucumber. I'm a fan of tuna sandwiches and they're a popular choice for afternoon tea, but I was buzzing that these had sweetcorn in too! All of the sandwiches were really tasty here, some of my favourite fillings too.

On top of the sandwiches, there was a cheese and onion tart, a basket of fish and chips, a cheese and fruit scone, and then all the desserts. I've never seen an afternoon tea like it. £19.95 is a common price for afternoon tea, but this was so worth the money.

Dessert wise, there was a strawberry milkshake with a cookie, a mini sundae, salted caramel tart, cheesecake and a carrot cake. Some of the desserts change per day, so I definitely want to come back to see what else is on offer. All of the desserts were amazing, but the cheesecake was out of this world, I've never tasted anything like it! As always, I had to take most of the desserts home, I'm starting to think I'll never manage to a full set of afternoon tea in one go. Considering the size of this one though, I don't think you can blame me.

I'm a sucker for novelty, so the fact the afternoon tea was served on a picnic bench made my day. I wish I could serve all of my food on a picnic bench. Everything about this afternoon tea was just fab, I'm sure you can see now why this is officially my favourite afternoon tea (so far).

I know I say this about all the afternoon teas I've been too, but this is honestly a must visit! Everything from the venue to the food was amazing, so even if you don't go for afternoon tea, you should try and visit for just a drink or a 'normal' meal. You can find all the menus, including the afternoon tea one here.

I've got a pretty impressive list of afternoon teas that I need to try, but if you have any to suggest, why not comment or you can tweet me. If you've tried this afternoon tea before, let me know what you thought!
