Preparing for a Hen Do with Fibromyalgia

I'm not going to lie, I've got an insanely busy few months coming up. As someone who is used to spending a lot of time alone, this is genuinely so different to my normal life, but I'm so happy about it! I did a quick post earlier this year going over some of the things I've got going on this year, so I thought I'd share some posts about how I'm preparing for these with regards to my fibro.
First up I've got two hen do weekends for two amazing bride to be's this year. I am so excited and crazily happy that I've been asked to attend. I've got one in Benidorm and one in Leeds, and they're both going to be jam packed with activities to make it an unreal time. But with this comes a lot of preparation on my end, to make sure I know I can have a fantastic weekend without a dreaded fibro flare. Whilst I'm fully expecting to need a bit of recovery after, I'd like to try and make it through both weekends without a flare up.

Afternoon Tea Adventures | Miss Nancy's

Next up in my Afternoon Tea Adventures is Miss Nancy's! I visited for one of my best friends birthdays, and I was really looking forward to it as it was another one that had a little something extra. I didn't have the chance to get any good photos of the actual venue, but honestly it was the absolute cutest. And if you check them out on instagram, you'll see they have some absolutely amazing cocktails - I need to visit again some time when I'm not driving to give some of them a try!

The afternoon tea is served on long wooden logs, which added a little something to it. The savoury and sweet sections were brought out separately. I'm not sure if this is normal practice or if this was just because not everyone on our table was having afternoon tea. It made more sense for us to have it this way, although did get in the way of my photo taking, as it meant I couldn't get a photo of the whole afternoon tea together!

The fish and chips were absolutely amazing - some of the best fish I've ever had. You got a decent amount too, so no fighting over it. When you're picking your afternoon tea, you can choose between fish and chips or chicken and sweet potato fries. I'm a fan of sweet potato fries, but pleased I went with this choice, the chips were delicious and the batter on the fish was lush.

For sandwiches, you got ham and pease pudding, tuna, egg mayo and cheese. My personal opinion was that there wasn't enough mayo in these sandwiches, but I love mayo that much I could probably just have a mayonnaise sandwich, so again that's just my personal preference! The ham in the ham and pease pudding was really good, proper ham, not the wafer thin stuff. The bread was so fluffy too, and the sandwiches weren't too big that you couldn't appreciate the fish and chips.

They then brought out the sweet platter, and they were kind enough to add a few extra cakes on with it being my friends birthday. The waitress we had was honestly so lovely, she was so helpful and friendly. I always think this is so important!

Unfortunately for me, the cakes we had weren't really my first choice. My cake preferences are so boring, so I normally just like the typical chocolate or vanilla. We had lemon cake, jam with coconut, tiramisu, and chocolate brownies with nuts. I'm not sure if they change their cakes on a regular basis or if this is set all the time, I would definitely go back if they did have some other cakes on offer just to give them a try as well! They did look delicious, and those who did try the cakes really enjoyed them but unfortunately they were just not the flavours I would normally pick.

Look at the size of that scone! The cream was really good, and plenty of it too! You could tell these scones were home made, really tasty and full of flavour. I ended up having two because I enjoyed them so much.

All in all, I was really pleased with this afternoon tea, even though the sweet tray wasn't my first choice of cakes. I would definitely still recommend as it was all delicious, well presented and the restaurant itself was just lush. They also offer childrens afternoon tea as well! It was a really good price for this afternoon tea, and you got a lot for your money so well worth it.
