Preparing for a Hen Do with Fibromyalgia

I'm not going to lie, I've got an insanely busy few months coming up. As someone who is used to spending a lot of time alone, this is genuinely so different to my normal life, but I'm so happy about it! I did a quick post earlier this year going over some of the things I've got going on this year, so I thought I'd share some posts about how I'm preparing for these with regards to my fibro.
First up I've got two hen do weekends for two amazing bride to be's this year. I am so excited and crazily happy that I've been asked to attend. I've got one in Benidorm and one in Leeds, and they're both going to be jam packed with activities to make it an unreal time. But with this comes a lot of preparation on my end, to make sure I know I can have a fantastic weekend without a dreaded fibro flare. Whilst I'm fully expecting to need a bit of recovery after, I'd like to try and make it through both weekends without a flare up.
1. Start Preparing …

The Great British Cupcakery Re-Launch Party

I'm pretty sure I don't have to explain how much I love cakes considering my Afternoon Tea Adventures posts. I can't even describe how happy I was when I was invited to the relaunch of The Great British Cupcakery! I've been so many times, and their Afternoon Tea was one of the first ones I've ever had, and it set the bar pretty high for all the ones that followed!

If you follow them on social media, you'll have seen they had a spectacular refurbishment not too long ago. I'd been staring at their instagram feed longingly ever since, patiently waiting for my next visit so I could experience that flower wall in person! The relaunch party was all I could think about once I got the invite, I vowed I wouldn't go for a cake until after the relaunch, so I could experience the refurbishment for the first time in the party setting.

I decided I would be completely extra and try and match my wardrobe with their decor. I bought this blazer from Miss Selfridge after losing my first stone on SlimmingWorld and I think it's the perfect outfit for a trip to The Great British Cupcakery. I brought along my friend Hanna too, she has a gluten free instagram, and having experienced GBC's amazing gluten free options before, she was buzzing to be going as well!

We were greeted at the door with some Fizz - pink of course! And can we just talk about those amazing balloons?! I've never seen anything like them! Luckily I was there early enough to get a few photos without getting in the way of anyone! I wish I could have some of these balloons on my bedroom door.

The official ribbon cutting was carried out by Miss Rory who was an absolute scream. I've been to Boulevourd before to see her and honestly, I've never laughed so much in my entire life. There was a lovely little speech all about the Great British Cupcakery which was lovely to hear.

Once the ribbon had been cut, the buffet was open! I'd been staring over all night in awe at how amazing all the treats looked. They were fab too, setting aside some gluten free sandwiches and cakes, they also had some vegan food there too. Those little heart shaped meringues were life changing, I wish I could eat those every day. And the millionaires shortbread had pink marble effect on it which was just beautiful - I'm not normally one for loving the colour pink but this refurb and their pink treats have completely swayed me, I am so here for the pink life!

As well as their main flower wall (which is honestly stunning), they have a mini one down by the toilets. As soon as I spotted the 'Yasss Queen' I knew I needed to get a few photos.

I honestly feel like the second you walk into The Great British Cupcakery you're automatically living your best life with their amazing cakes, their flower wall and those pink lattes! I've been in for cake since this event and it was so full, it's great seeing how popular it has become, it's so very well deserved.

If you haven't been to The Great British Cupcakery before, I urge you to give it a try. They have plenty of sweet treats to keep you going!

Abbey xx
