Preparing for a Hen Do with Fibromyalgia

I'm not going to lie, I've got an insanely busy few months coming up. As someone who is used to spending a lot of time alone, this is genuinely so different to my normal life, but I'm so happy about it! I did a quick post earlier this year going over some of the things I've got going on this year, so I thought I'd share some posts about how I'm preparing for these with regards to my fibro.
First up I've got two hen do weekends for two amazing bride to be's this year. I am so excited and crazily happy that I've been asked to attend. I've got one in Benidorm and one in Leeds, and they're both going to be jam packed with activities to make it an unreal time. But with this comes a lot of preparation on my end, to make sure I know I can have a fantastic weekend without a dreaded fibro flare. Whilst I'm fully expecting to need a bit of recovery after, I'd like to try and make it through both weekends without a flare up.
1. Start Preparing …

Afternoon Tea Adventures | Festive Afternoon Tea @ The Great British Cupcakery

I don't think anyone is surpised that GBC is featuring in my Festive Afternoon Teas - this is the third Afternoon Tea post from GBC (you can see the first two here and here). So yeah, I'm a huge fan of The Great British Cupcakery so of course I booked up for their festive afternoon tea!

Typically, I didn't check my camera battery before I left so it wasn't until I was there that I realised the battery was completely dead! So these photos might not be as good as normal (not that they're usually fantastic anyway) and I have ended up stealing a few from my sister as well!

I'm so into the decor at The Great British Cupcakery I find myself always wearing pink in an attempt to match! I also just love their Christmas tree and they way they've made the parlour festive, it's so lush! They really know how to decorate!

First up is the sandwiches - we had Cucumber and Cream Cheese, Ham and Mustard, Cheese and Pickle and of course, Turkey and Cranberry. I always love the sandwiches in an Afternoon Tea and these didn't disappoint. The bread was good, perfect amount of filling and I also love that they had changed up the flavours from their normal ones so it made it completely different.

I love getting both a sweet and a savoury scone. The cheese ones had been upgraded to Cheddar and Rosemary, which again made a really nice change to their usual cheese. Still a really good amount of cheese in them which is always so important! The fruit ones were filled with jam and cream - just how I like them! They also had a few extra spices in too, giving them a real festive feeling. I would definitely say my favourite fruit scone from an Afternoon Tea has always been the ones from GBC, and these festive ones have definitely

Time for the sweets! We had a Festive Red Velvet Brownie, Christmas Kiss, Chocolate Orange Cupcake and a Biscoff Cheesecake Slice. Let me tell you, these were all amazing and to me all perfect festive flavours. That Cheesecake! I can't even begin to describe how amazing it was. I'm still thinking about it now! I've never tasted anything like it before. I'm not sure if they have this available to order on its own, but if they do I would definitely recommend a slice of it! I've recently become obsessed with Biscoff so I was so pleased to see this, and the little candy cane on the top made it look so cute too!

I had to take a solo photo of this because it's honestly my favourite thing ever! I love the meringues that GBC do, they were so lovely at their Re-launch Party so I was so excited to see this. It is just the cutest thing ever! They do so well with theming their sweet treats for different occasions. This was so pretty I just didn't want to eat it!

Of course I had to wear the hat out of the cracker! I also love that we actually got a cracker too! This is always my go to pose during Afternoon Tea, although half the time they never make it onto the blog post! I honeslty really enjoyed this afternoon tea. I don't think I've ever been disappointed at The Great British Cupcakery - the food is always so nice, the staff are so lovely and helpful and the overall atmosphere and feel of the building is just so welcoming. I will always recommend GBC, but I would definitely say to try and  head down for some festive treats!

This Afternoon Tea cost £19.95, the same price as their normal Afternoon Tea. You can book their Afternoon Tea by calling 0191 230 2151. You can find them on InstagramTwitter and Facebook

Have you been for GBCs Festive Afternoon Tea? If you've got any others booked I'd love to hear about them!

    1. I've had my fair few, I just love the novelty of it all. Always feels a bit more special when you're meeting up with friends or family. I'm a huge fan of this place for their Afternoon Tea :) x

  2. This looks so good, I must get myself back to GBC, I have never even tried their afternoon tea!

    1. It was so good! I've been so many times, this was my third type with them as I've had their normal and their Harry Potter one too. I've never been disappointed! x
